How to Score Free Event Tickets with DoMore

DoMore is a $5 monthly subscription that provides users with a free pair of tickets to one event per month. The events can be concerts, festivals, tastings, comedy shows, exclusive film screenings, and more.

But is it real?

In the six or so months that my partner and I have been subscribed, we’ve received tickets for all of the categories above. One of the events we attended was a tasting with tickets priced over $110 each.

I have to admit, when I first read about DoMore, I thought it was a scam, because none of the promos I saw listed any specific events that have been featured in the past. I realized after using the membership for a couple of months that this is probably out of a need for discretion. The events that I have gotten into for free with my DoMore membership are often still selling tickets at full price at the door when I enter. I’m sure it would hurt sales if it were public knowledge that the tickets were being released for free.

What level tickets are we talking?

In the spirit of regard for that, I’m not going to list which specific events and concerts we’ve attended through DoMore. So far, we’ve received tickets to concerts for six artists that we knew and liked. The venues ranged from House of Blues to The Greek to The United Theater. So we’ve seen some pretty spectacular shows through DoMore, but don’t expect sold-out-stadium-show level tickets.

Is it just events full of other DoMore members?

It’s impossible to tell from the outside how many event tickets for each event are going to members of DoMore vs. paying customers. I will say that every event I’ve attended through DoMore has seemed to be packed to the gills with die hard fans of the artist or event we’re attending. I’ve only ever suspected that another attendee might have had DoMore tickets once, and that was because he mentioned that a co-worker had nonchalantly transferred their tickets for that event to him, and he was shocked because they were such pricy tickets.

How do I get even more out of joining?

In addition to the monthly ticket drop, where you select your free tickets from 4-7 options, you can pick up one pair of last minute tickets per week. These appear in a separate tab in your account. When they are all sold out, the tab will be empty. So your $5 monthly fee could get you pairs of tickets to up to five different events.

My partner and I both joined under separate accounts. This means that between the two of us, we have access to up to 10 events per month. When we happen to have the same great event pop up as an option under both of our accounts, we each book a separate pair of tickets and bring a couple of friends along.

As I mentioned above, tickets are transferrable. If you realize you can’t make it to an event or if you see an event a friend would especially love, you can give the tickets away.
